Visiting an archeological site, strolling through centuries of history and becoming aware of what the man of that time have
made and built fascinates and impresses me! Here I am referring to the culture of the Incas and Chimu peoples of Peru.
The Incas worked the stone. They built remarkable cities. From the Chimus, we inherited a multitude of ceramic pieces quite wonderful.
Therefore in this in a new series of paintings, stone, earth and natural elements impose their presence.
As a first step, I build the basic structure of the painting by the one-shot printing technique. And then I modify and complete
the work by adding color with different mediums such as oil pastels, dry pastels, crayons, very diluted acrylic paints etc.
The paintings in this series are worked on different media such as Fabriano or Saint-Armand paper, linen / cotton without primer.
The shapes that spread to the stone walls are sometimes treated horizontally, sometimes vertically and in an anarchic, disorderly way.
This discord in the stone structure is for me a way of expressing the tumults of history. The human dimension is evoked here by the presence
of pots (pottery). They are split, misshapen, imposing, discreet, smoking, transparent, etc. All this in order to contribute to give the work
a human dimension, a reminder that daily life is different every day and that the story of a people is built little by little.
The stone and the earth were silent witnesses of the agitation of the past, of its history but also of the delicacy of the artisan's gesture,
the sweat and the effort of these people to build a world according to their culture and in their image.
The titles of the works presented are taken from poems by Pablo Neruda.
