I like people! I like to observe their behaviors, their reactions, what they are. In my first series of monotypes "The human conifer",
my work represented the individual alone, a personalized conifer. I attributed to him the importance of the human dimension.
With these paintings, I created a society of individuals. In this project, "Like life, a landscape", the individual is no longer alone.
The tree symbolised the individual. He is the character of a scenario interacting with other elements. He is an actor of a scene where moods
are played, atmospheres that are part of our daily lives. With these paintings, I represent an individual in community. Here, the landscape
is a metaphor for the life of man.
At first, I build the basic structure of the painting by the one-shot printing technique. In a second time, I modify and complete the work
by additions of pencil, pastel, acrylic color, etc ... I use a gray paper made of natural fibers placed horizontally. This gray support allows
me to play with the nuances of colors favoring the desired moods. In addition, it calms contrasts with the black gesso used for printing. This
gray color is the perfect balance of neutrality. The horizontal axis allows me a certain spreading of the elements composing the scene like an
effusion where the confidence has free course. Often the tree is alone in the foreground. He radiates, omnipresent. It is from him that we speak.
It unfolds on its territory like the exuberance of a too lively imagination. He imposes his presence. He is the man. In some paintings,
one recognizes his gregarious spirit. The shade of the trees is turbulent, colorful, sometimes strong, sometimes soft. The shadow thus
projected becomes influence, persuasion, domination, in a real world. The vertical bands, some say poles or fences, give balance and movement
to the whole. Figuratively, they mark the human action.
In this work, I do not seek the accuracy of the landscape, I use the landscape to evoke what I feel as a result of my observations.
I want to provoke a reflection between man and his environment, his actions. He has so much power that he ignores!
